Ford has said its focus with this generation of the Mustang was the power- to- weight ratio. At 3,7. 05 lbs., the GT is rated at 8. What’s more, Ford has claimed the GT will top out at 1. MPH. Ford called 2. Boss 3. 02 the performance benchmark for the 2.

Mustang models and claimed that the new GT fitted with a performance pack would be able to beat the Boss 3. With those specs, the GT is certainly in the neighborhood of the Boss’s 4. HP. Ford says this transmission now operates with less friction. Launch control will come standard on the GT, as does a remote start system. Also available for the new 2.

Mustang is the Premium Package. The Premium Package comes with the same 2. Mustang parts as the regular GT, but it adds a brand new feature never before available on a pony car: selectable driving modes. These modes—which give drivers the ability to custom tune the steering effort, throttle response, and stability control—can be adjusted for normal, snow/wet, sport and track.
The 2. 01. 5 Mustang GT Premium comes with an aluminum accent dash panel, illuminated sill plates, aluminum foot pedals, dual zone climate control, ambient lighting, unique premium door- trim, and leather heated and cooled seats. The GT Premium also offers some technological advantages over the standard GT as well. It comes with a nine- speaker sound system with an amplifier, along with a complimentary six- month Sirius satellite radio subscription. It also features the My. Ford Sync Touch system that has an 8” LCD touchscreen. Sync can be activated with voice commands, buttons on the steering wheel or by pressing the customizable LCD touchscreen. The GT has a robust performance package that is available with both the regular GT and the GT Premium.
Included in the $2. K- brace, 1. 5- inch rotors and some sharp looking 1. The package also includes a Torsen limited- slip differential, which gives the GT a 3.
Also included in this package is a spoiler delete, which gives the car a much sleeker, lower profile look. If you really like the look of the new 2. Mustang without the spoiler, but don’t want to opt for the entire performance package, the spoiler delete is available as an optional feature, independent of the performance package. Other optional features, beside the common ones like spare tire and all weather floor mats, include a reverse park assist for increased safety. If you’re willing to pay more for a custom color, the GT has Ruby Red and Triple Yellow available. To commemorate the 5. Anniversary of the Mustang, the GT also has a 5.
Years Appearance Package for an additional $1. This package includes 1. Y- spoke wheels, a throwback custom corral and. Years” faux gas cap, unique seat inserts and interior accents, custom “5. Years” floor mats, a unique “5. Years” dash emblem and chrome taillight surrounds. If you’re springing for the Premium GT with the 5.
Year Appearance Package, you might be tempted to include the optional enhanced security package as well. The security package, available for an additional $3. The 2. 01. 4 Mustang GT price was $3. Mustang parts, is more expensive. However, for that much power you really can’t get a better deal. The base price of the regular Mustang GT, $3. The Mustang GT Premium, with its added bells and whistles, starts at $3.
Fans and industry experts alike are excited to see what this new model can do. It comes fitted with a 2. L Eco. Boost turbocharged, direct injected 4- cylinder engine, and it is the first Mustang since the old SVO to have a turbo. After a long wait and much speculation, it has been revealed that the Eco. Boost is capable of producing 3. Ford engine, and since it’s an Eco.
Boost, we know it’s at least designed to have better fuel efficiency than engines of a similar size, though no MPG figures have been released quite yet. Like the GT, the Mustang Eco. Boost model comes with your choice of a manual or automatic transmission, and just like the GT, paddle shifters are standard for automatic transmission Eco. Boosts. Like on the GT, there is a Premium version of the Eco. Boost model available. The Premium version of the Eco.
Boost has the same features as its GT equivalent. However, if you don’t want to opt for the Premium, the Eco. Boost still has the same optional security system, reverse sensing system and spoiler delete as the GT. The “5. 0 Years” appearance pack is also available for the Eco. Boost. The Eco. Boost also has a Performance Package available. This package gives the car fixed, four- piston front calipers, bigger, thicker rotors and heavy- duty front springs.
To give the Eco. Boost better acceleration, the performance pack comes with 3. It also comes with things seen in the GT’s performance package, like a larger radiator, gauge pack, K- brace and stability control tuning. Ford claims the Eco. Boost with the performance pack will have a top speed of 1. Eco. Boost base. The Eco. Boost has a lower starting price than the GT: $2. The Eco. Boost Premium pushes that starting price up to $2.
The performance pack for the Eco. Boost is also cheaper than the GT’s, at $2. The other optional features though—like the “5.
Years” appearance pack and the backup sensors—are the same price for the Eco. Boost and the GT. The Eco. Boost is a marvel of engineering. The shape of its intake manifold and the housing for the turbocharger were purposefully made to allow for maximum air intake and output.
It’s the first Ford engine to have a low- inertia twin- scroll turbocharger, and it has a lively response while maximizing MPG and minimizing emissions. It works by having an exhaust manifold that divides the inner and outer pairs of cylinders into two intake passages to the turbo. By having the exhaust pulses cordoned off from the next cylinder in the firing order, there is less loss from mixing and much more force going to the actual turbine wheel. This allows the turbine to spin- up much quicker, effectively delivering torque when the driver needs it.
The V8 engine was the beneficiary of some tweaking designed to help it perform better at high speeds. Its upgrades included: bigger intake and exhaust valves, reworked intake and exhaust camshafts, sturdier valve springs, new cylinder head casting, lighter and more durable connecting rods, redesigned piston tops and a rebalanced crankshaft that will help it perform better at higher RPMs. GT5. 0. L V8. 43. Mustang Convertible.
The Mustang Convertible will be available for all premium models of the 2. Mustang. This year’s version of the ragtop comes equipped with a completely electric mechanism for opening and closing the top, replacing the electro- hydraulic system used in years past. The all- electric Webasto mechanism is capable of raising the top in 9- 1. However, if it starts raining on you during a drive on the freeway, you’ll still have to pull over, because the top will only go up or down at speeds below three miles per hour. The improvements in the convertible’s top aren’t purely mechanical.
The 2. 01. 5 Mustang convertibles will come with an additional fourth bow and a 1. These additions combine to create a smoother appearance for the Mustang’s top when it is up. The extra bow doesn’t create storage problems, either; in fact, the top actually folds down into a smaller space, making the trunk lid even lower than before and increasing trunk space from the 9. Mustang Convertible to 1. Naturally, the convertibles are a little pricier than their hardtop counterparts. The 2. 01. 5 Mustang convertible’s starting MSRP is $2.
Due to the fact that Ford’s own SVT team is behind the production of the new performance model, chances are the name Shelby won’t be attached to this year’s highest end Mustang. It seems more likely it will be called something like a 2. Mustang GT3. 50, or it will have an even more historic name like Cobra or Mach 1. Those are likely monikers for the new performance model, but given that Ford has said outright that they’ve based this new generation on the Boss 3.
Boss 3. 02 in spirit. Unfortunately, as of now, all we have to go by are spy photographs of a camouflaged performance model undergoing testing at Germany’s Nurburgring, which, interestingly, is something past incarnations of the Mustang rarely did. Appearance wise, the model spotted at the German track seems more aggressive than its 2. Truthfully, though, it looks more like a 2. GT than a 2. 01. 4 Shelby. It has average sized wheels and tires, no vented hood, and it is totally without a large rear wing. While the sound of the engine on the video of the disguised Mustang sounds promising, we’ll have to wait until someone sneaks a camera under the hood to know for sure what we’re really dealing with here.
There is also a good chance we may see more than one Mustang performance model released in 2. Given that the GT3.
Boss 3. 02, we may see an even more powerful model from Ford as an answer to Dodge’s 7. SRT Challenger Hellcat.
The most budget- friendly version of this year’s Mustang will be a fastback model, since the convertible costs an additional $6,0. The cheapest available model is the V6, but this is still a respectable choice: its 3. There is no premium package available for the V6, but it still comes with some decent standard perks for the interior: push button start, an audio input jack, a rear view camera, a tire pressure monitoring system and even SYNC with My. Ford Touch. This model, which comes with the spoiler delete included, looks especially sharp in competition orange, which doesn’t cost extra like the ruby red or triple yellow.
Built like this—as bare bones as possible but still pretty well- equipped, thanks to some generous standard features—this is a $2. Mustang. You may be stuck with an additional destination charge depending on your location. On the other end of the spectrum, the highest performing 2. Mustang, loaded with as many extras as possible, is going to cost a little bit more than $2. Though the Eco. Boost is high performing by many standards, in terms of raw horsepower, no model released so far is beating the GT.
